Written by Einar Olav Holøyen

This project is taking form in a slow and very flexible way. Going to Tamil Nadu (South India) to serve needs to accept that what ever is planned never really happens as planned… You have to adapt on a day-to-day basis to the urgent needs that are presented to you. It is also a humble action of being with the poors with no pretension to change their fate but only to testify the brotherhood and compassion that is possible between humans.

projects.uwcnetwork.org is a news website presenting articles about past and present projects and achievements made by United World College alumni and current students. It is part of the uwcnetwork.org websites. Our goal is to be able to to show people all around the world how this education often leads to worthwhile projects and achievements that are in line with United World College ideals, and therefore contribute to uniting people, nations and cultures in peace and a sustainable future - our aim is to become a kind of online United World College-portfolio for prospective students, donors, partners, universities, institutions, organisations, employers and others. We wish to show what the UWC movement is all about, and this is probably the first website with this in mind.

UWC’s Mission:

UWC believes that to achieve peace and a sustainable future, the values it promotes are crucial:

  • Celebration of difference
  • Personal responsibility and integrity
  • Mutual responsibility and respect
  • Compassion and service
  • Respect for the environment
  • A sense of idealism
  • Personal challenge
  • Action and personal example

We are actively looking for your own articles in form of project-descriptions (with photos if you have them) that you can mail to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it . Alternatively use the contact form of this website to contact us. We really need everybody affiliated with the UWC movement to contribute with all they know about worthwhile work, initiatives, projects and achievements that should be brought to to our attention.  Please do not hesitate to submit your news about your or other's work, initiatives, projects or achievements.
