"Neo-Tao Vol. 1: The Balance"
Written by Einar Olav Holøyen

It is undeniable that Asian cinema has indeed suddenly caught on the Western world's attention. Regardless whether Hollywood is making bad movies or not, Asian cinema has always had a strong sense of its own cinematic identity. The fact that Asian cinema is much more accessible than before allows more people to appreciate the possibilities of Asian cinema, not only stylistically but the fact that they create ART - with less money, in less time, (and arguably more talent) than their Western counterparts.

projects.uwcnetwork.org is a news website presenting articles about past and present projects and achievements made by United World College alumni and current students. It is part of the uwcnetwork.org websites. Our goal is to be able to to show people all around the world how this education often leads to worthwhile projects and achievements that are in line with United World College ideals, and therefore contribute to uniting people, nations and cultures in peace and a sustainable future - our aim is to become a kind of online United World College-portfolio for prospective students, donors, partners, universities, institutions, organisations, employers and others. Marmu, Bertrand - Série de 4 - No. 2

Dear all fellow UWCers and friends,

The Art of Peace project is born from the meeting of different needs which could mutually answer each other.

It is a project of uwcnetwork.org dedicated to the United World College ideals of international understanding, peace and justice. It was initiated by François Paul-Cavallier (UWC Atlantic College 1962-1964). The current Art of Peace - The Ones website is a uwcnetwork.org website. This used to be a project of Atlantic College, and has been continued by uwcnetwork.org.

 What is it for?

  • Create resources for financing scholarships to United World Colleges, by selling art online.
  • Give a worldwide promotion to artists concerned by UWC ideals.
  • Find a carrying pretext to increase the population getting in contact with UWC values all around the world.

What is it ?

An equitable deal between artists and uwcnetwork.org based on trading donation of painted canvases for worldwide promotion on the Internet Art of Peace platform: artofpeace.uwcnetwork.org The small canvases are called 'Ones', they are of a unique size 22x16 cm for symbolic and logistic reasons. All the paintings are this size. One painting sells for 60 euros, and all this money goes to fund UWC scholarships. This is a signed agreement between the artist and uwcnetwork.org.
